Budget and performance management professionals in North Carolina local governments continue to face challenges and opportunities in this new economy.  Join us for an effective and efficient series of workshops, discussions, and networking at the NCLGBA 2009 Winter Conference, December 2nd to 4th at the Omni Hotel in Downtown Charlotte.

The “Queen City” will be our host, offering one of the most convenient travel destinations for localities throughout the state.

Workshops will focus on relevant topics for counties & municipalities of all sizes, including:

·        Financial Forecasting – Why, How To, Now What?

·        Municipal/County Leadership Approaches – veteran NC municipal and county managers agree (and disagree) about successful management styles and experiences

·        Non-Profit Partnerships – evaluating new requests and ongoing relationships with financial partners

·        Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn – what?? Social networking and communication opportunities for your local government

·        Lean Management during tough financial times

·        Economic Update – a local and national update from a top economist

·        Legislative Brief – provided by the NC League of Municipalities and NC Association of County Commissioners

·        And More!

Plus, we are introducing a set of mobile/off-site workshops where participants will get out and see coming trends in government operations in action, specifically:

·        Discussion on use of public transit in large and small jurisdictions, featuring visits to Charlotte’s CATS multi-modal center and a ride on their new LYNX light rail

·        Responding to “Green” and better understanding LEED certification for buildings and facilities, including visits to some examples in the Charlotte area (transportation provided)

Also, if you’re new to the budgeting world, we have a special skills development workshop scheduled just for you!

Finally, evening and guest activities will include:

·        Networking reception Wednesday evening (included in registration for attendees)

·        Access to several downtown activities, including ice hockey, theatre performances, bowling, pub crawling, etc.
